Our Tips for Keeping your Body Hydrated During Travel

As relaxing and enjoyable as traveling can be, getting there can sometimes be a hassle. Between dealing with crowds, delays, and other stressful factors, the last thing you need to be worried about is your health.

Dehydration is one of the leading causes of health complications travelers encounter on vacation. The pressure, temperature, and oxygen levels in a plane cabin fluctuate, and the humidity level is lower than it is at sea level, according to Cleveland Clinic's Matthew Goldman, MD. Besides the dehydration you will inevitably face while getting to your destination, factors such as weather, activity and exercise, and alcohol consumption can very quickly lead to dehydration even once you’re back on the ground. Dehydration can then cause numerous other health and safety concerns, which is the last thing you need while on vacation.

Here are some of our tricks for staying hydrated on your next trip.

Miracle Mojito

If you’re staying in a villa or hotel with a kitchen, making this drink, especially after a day full of traveling or enjoying cocktails, will totally revitalize you. Although consuming alcohol dehydrates you, we understand that you're in vacation mode. So enjoy alone, add a splash of rum, or even tequila. The other healthy and hydrating ingredients will lessen the effects of your hangover!

Ingredients:

½ an English cucumber

½ a lemon or lime

Frozen ginger cubes (any kind of ginger will work)

Pineapple juice

Water or sparkling water

Mint leaves

Ice

Alcohol of choice

Instructions:

Using a blender or food processor, combine all dry ingredients with a half cup of pineapple juice and a half cup of water. Strain over ice (hot tip! use coffee filter if you can’t find a strainer). Add mint and enjoy!

Chlorophyl

A great tip for jet lag is adding a few drops of chlorophyl to your water just prior to landing. This tip will help you if you wish to stay awake longer throughout the day. Chlorophyl is a dietary supplement that assists the body when adjusting to a new time zone. It also helps to restore energy levels and improve sleep quality.

Dream Water

If you want to sleep better on the plane we recommend Dream Water. Dream Water contains a proprietary blend of GABA, Melatonin, and 5-HTP. All of its ingredients are known to promote effective sleep, among many other benefits.

Pure Inventions

Got somewhere to be? Add these flavor drops from Pure Inventions to your water. This will encourage you and your traveling companions to drink more (we recommend the coconut flavor… it’s addicting).

Liquid IV

Another option for those on the go is Liquid IV. Liquid IV uses “Cellular Transport Technology® (CTT)", and is based on an optimal ratio of ingredients designed to enhance rapid absorption of water and other nutrients into your bloodstream.”

Bkr

Sounds silly, but the more you love something the more you’ll use it, right? Check out these sleek, cute, and easy to travel with bottles from Bkr. These glass bottles come in different sizes and their skin can be changed, so you can mix and match to fit the occasion. Choose from multiple caps, including one that holds a lip balm.

Cadence

Whether you’re in a tropical paradise or are hiking up a mountain in the alps, vacation can cause people to leave their routines at home. While we encourage you to leave your daily stresses at the door, we also want you to keep up with your health and hygiene. Check out Keep your Cadence for the best storage options.
