Writer's picture: WallisWallis

While borders around the world continue to re-open, sometimes it is nice to enjoy all that our own backyard has to offer. Set out on a whirlwind tour to discover the top experiences in three of our favorite US destinations: Boston, New York, and Chicago. Besides the obvious things like great baseball, world-renowned museums, and shopping these three towns are also home to a very special hotel brand: Langham.

See below for a round-up on all three hotels and their local neighborhoods for inspiration on your next getaway:

Boston, MA

The Langham Boston

Stay:

The Langham Boston – this hotel may have just opened its doors (no, really! The grand opening was June 2021), but the building is steeped with US history. In fact, it is a national landmark as it was the former home of the Federal Reserve Bank. The hotel is tucked in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of the hustle and bustle of downtown Boston.

North End dining is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel and boasts an amazing plethora of authentic Italian food. The neighborhood is filled with casual delis and trattorias, and makes for a fun way to explore this special corner of Boston.

Drink:

If you can tear yourself away from the creative craft cocktails at The Fed (the hotel’s stunning new bar that feels like a well-appointed speak-easy), check out Yvonne’s for a lively atmosphere with playful décor and delicious food and cocktails.

Do:

Boston is the mecca for any US-history aficionado, but don’t forget to checkout the seaport which is a quick walk from the hotel. The waterfront offers great rooftop restaurants and views of the harbor. You can also tour the area near Faneuil Hall, walk the Freedom Trail, or enjoy some fresh air at Boston Commons.

Fun Fact:

If you didn’t get your Italian fix in the North End, the Langham’s concierge (which is a wealth of knowledge!), can set up a Cannoli Tour.

New York, NY

The evidence of which can be found on its ceilings and walls in the form of fragile clay pipes that belonged to famous patrons such as Babe Ruth and Albert Einstein, among others.

Drink:

The Sky Terrace, discreetly hidden behind Room #1001 at the Langham offers stunning city views, delicious cocktails, and a menu curated by the culinary team behind Michelin-starred Ai Fiori.

Right around the corner from The Langham, is an enchanting lesser-known museum: The Morgan Library and Museum. For the book lovers or those seeking something off the beaten path, the museum has a brilliant, eclectic collection of books and stunning murals. If you’re craving green spaces and fresh air, walk over to Bryant Park, located just behind the more famous library in town: The New York City Public Library. The park boasts over 9 acres of green space and offers a variety of complimentary activities like yoga and live performances.

Fun Fact:

The Langham’s most famous neighbor is the Empire State Building (many of the rooms boast up close views of this iconic NYC landmark). Check out the 102nd floor Observation Deck for the best views of the entire city.
